Cavanna Homes named in top 75 housebuilders

24th October 2011

Torbay-based Cavanna Homes has secured its position as the South West region’s largest independent homebuilder after being placed in the UK’s Top 75 Housebuilders list.

The third generation family business was ranked at 69th place in the Housing Market Intelligence report, produced in partnership with NHBC and launched at a conference in London last week.

The annual report ranks the nation’s housebuilders on turnover as well as the number of units built, company profit and average selling price.

Cavanna Homes, which only builds homes within two hours drive of its head office in Torquay, produced a turnover of £27 million on a total of 168 sales in 2010. Of those, 117 were open market sales and 51 social housing.

Marketing Director Jonathan Cavanna said: “This is the first time that Cavanna Homes has featured in the industry’s top 75 and it reflects our position as the South West region’s largest independent homebuilder. At a time when the value of the industry’s output and the housing market as a whole is down by half, we had our best year ever and, in addition, we are only one of 20 in the top 75 to have recruited more staff. ”

Cavanna Homes currently has homes for sale in six developments. They are Evolve in Torquay, The Salterns at Bideford, Blue View at Lyme Regis, Cobham Field at Roborough near Plymouth, Parish Green at Lee Mill near Ivybridge and #8, a small development of detached homes in the Looseleigh Lane area of Plymouth.

At top position in this year’s Housing Market Intelligence report was Barratt Homes with Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon, Bellway, Berkeley and Galliford Try in the next positions. Redrow, in seventh place was the big mover, up from 13th place the previous year.
