Cavanna Homes urge the men of Torbay to grow their whiskers in aid of children's charities

21st November 2011

A Beardathon contest to grow the biggest and bushiest beard in Torbay is hoping to raise over £2000 for two Westcountry children’s charities this Christmas.

Male members of staff at Torbay based Cavanna Homes are urging the men of Torbay to pit their whiskers against each other in this year’s Beardathon challenge to raise money for two Devon children’s charities.

Organiser David Green, Cavanna’s Development Manager said; “I’m very impressed with the dedication and determination of the entrants each year to persevere with this charity event.  Year on year the charity Beardathon builds on its success and with the help of the men from the wider Torbay community, we are hoping to break our fundraising record in aid of The Wooden Spoon Charity and Moor Vision.”

The Wooden Spoon is a national charity founded in 1983 to help underprivileged children and young people who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially to live happier, richer lives.

Moor Vision, a Devon based charity was set up in 2007 and works to increase awareness of the needs of visually impaired children and young adults in the community whilst providing support for the often isolated families and carers of the visually impaired across Devon.
